LA Mayor Bans City Council Surf Days
LOS ANGELES, CA - Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has stopped the practice of holding city council meetings at the beach. Previously, one meeting a week had been held at Huntington Beach so council members could get in some surfing. "In these tough times, we must lead by example," said the mayor. Council President Gil Garcetti offered muted support for Villaraigosa's order. "I guess, but it really sucks, man." Other city council customs, such as cronyism and general incompetence, will be unaffected. (Image:broceanography.com)
